Arts & Crafts of Myanmar 9 Days

Arts & Crafts of Myanmar - Bannar 2

This private tour of Burma focuses on the cultural and traditional aspects of the country. It includes private tours of art gallery districts, local markets, monasteries, crafts towns, Buddhist temples, artisan workshops, and much more.

Your trip begins in Yangon, Myanmar’s biggest city and former capital. Along with your private driver and guide, visit cultural icons such as the 300-foot, gold laden Buddhist pagoda, Shwedagon Pagoda and Bogyoke (Scott) Market which sells a wide variety of traditional Burmese products. Also, go to the city’s renowned antique shops and art galleries, and meet local artists.

Enjoy a private boat trip along the Ayeyarwady Delta to Twante, a well-known pottery village. Ride a horse-drawn cart to visit markets and pottery workshops, and see the renowned Shwesandaw Pagoda. On your return trip back to Yangon, enjoy the breathtaking views of the countryside and get a glimpse of rural life on the waterfront.

Your next destination is stunning Bagan, where thousands of ancient, ruinous temples and pagodas stretch from the Irrawaddy River across kilometers of plains. Enter the ancient structures, constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries when Bagan was at the heart of Buddhism in Southeast Asia. Learn more about the province’s ancient past by marveling at paintings, ancient statues, and carvings.

Cruise via private boat on the Irrawaddy River while enjoying the view and getting a glimpse of daily life. Go to specialized workshops that sell regional handicrafts such as wood carvings and lacquer, and visit a local market where the locals purchase daily needs. During the evening, get on a horse-drawn carriage and visit the pagodas of Bagan. If you wish, we can also arrange a hot air balloon ride over Bagan before sunrise.

Go on a private trip to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano that is known as the home of the nats in Myanmar. Go to the shrines for the nats and learn more about the religion of the region. You can include a visit to a local market and Salay, renowned for its colonial-era architecture and ancient wooden monastery, during your trip.

Visit Mandalay, the religious and cultural center of Burma. Go to local workshops to witness craftsmen weave traditional silk, gold leaf, wood carving, and other crafts. Visit Mandalay’s central market to learn about different local food products and ingredients. Eat Mandalay’s renowned noodles at a local tea shop for breakfast. On another private day trip, head to Sagaing to experience its hundreds of pagodas and monasteries.
Spend your last night in Yangon before leaving Myanmar.
