Aureum Palace Hotel

Room Type: Deluxe Room, Villas

Descripton: Fantastic location, great welcome and amazing views of temples and stuppas of Bagan from the comfort of the swimming pool or restaurant. Delightful large bedrooms. Lovely restaurant for breakfast or dinner. Great base for exploring the temples, villages and river. Add on an extra day just for chilling in the hotel.

I’d give this place 5 stars, if it wasn’t in the middle of nowhere. Amazing landscaping and using he natural vistas to dramatic effect, delicious food, wonderful pools, enormous rooms, clean, hyper-friendly staff, good bicycles for rent, etc etc. Yes, it’s very expensive, but you get what you pay for. And while the remoteness of this place attracted me when I booked it, just be prepared – it’s a minimum of a $10 USD taxi ride anywhere, so you can’t just pick up and go. They have a tasty restaurant onsite, but it’s pricy and a bit ho-hum. One free visit to the viewing tower is included in each stay – best to go for sunset.

Acknowledged by many to be the best resort hotel in Myanmar, this sprawling property overlooks a breath-taking scene of Bagan’s pagoda-studded landscape across a lotus-dappled lake.
The towering teak-pillared grand lobby and the restaurant lend regal splendor to its 72-room complex of villa-type super-deluxe accommodation, all of which are equipped with top-of-the-line amenities and equipment.
The hotel is complete with an extensive spa facility, banquet facilities, a fully equipped fitness centre, a sauna, a nightclub, a business centre with broadband connection and a huge swimming pool which affords a stunning view of Bagan’s pagoda landscape.
