Highlights of Burma 9 Days

Highlights of Burma - Bannar

This private tour around Myanmar includes the country’s most well-known destinations. You will have your own driver and guide and the accommodation throughout the tour is at the best hotels that the country offers.

Your tour starts in Yangon. With your private driver and guide, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, a 300-foot high golden Buddhist pagoda and the city’s most stunning landmark. You will also visit the National Museum and Scott Market. Get a chance to tour around the neighborhoods that epitomize Yangon’s British, Bangladeshi, Burmese, and indigenous influences.

Your next destination is Bagan, where thousands of temples and pagodas stretch across miles of plains. Climb into the thousand year old temples and get a glimpse of Burma’s ancient past. The structures were constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries when Bagan was at the center of Buddhism in Southeast Asia. Discover the ancient history of Bagan by looking at the carvings on the layered facades, Buddhist statues, and the paintings in their interior.

Visit local villages and markets. If you want to, hop on a hot air balloon and ride over the temples as the sun peeks out of the skies. On another evening, ride a horse-drawn carriage through the ancient streets and temples of Bagan when the sun sets. Another destination while in Bagan is Mt. Popa, a destination for pilgrims for more than 700 years. Mt. Popa is believed to be the residence of Burma’s powerful and mysterious nats, also known as Burmese spirits associated with nature.

Continue your journey to famous Mandalay, the cultural hub of Burma. Tour markets and craft districts in the city or catch a procession of monks in the silk making center in Amarapura. Visit ancient ruins and pagodas in Sagaing, Ava, and Mingun while in Mandalay.

Next, visit Inle Lake, residence of the Inthas, and tour the resplendent countryside. Ride a canoe through Inle Lake’s canals, row through floating villages, and discover how the Intha cultivate crops on reed islands. Go to local products villages to buy unique lacquerware, textiles, ceramics, and visit In Dein, where ancient pagodas stand above the lake. Get a taste of local wine by visiting a local vineyard.

Spend your last night in Yangon before leaving Myanmar.
