The Governors Residence

Room Type: Deluxe, Deluxe Garden View, Governor`s room, Junior Suite, two bedroom junior suite

Descripton: High quality, good food, great service and friendly staff. After a long flight from Europe was just the place to arrive and feel relaxed. Only downside is that location is a bit quiet and far from things but overall would really recommend

Charming and intimate
I was at the Governor’s recently and loved it. I was on my own prior to joining an Luxury Travel Myanmar and the 2 days were pure luxury. Absolute attention to detail at every step. The guy at the front desk remembered where I was from and acknowleged me whenever I saw him. The food was excellent, many choices for breakfast. Pool was perfect and the bar nicely positioned. I was invited to join management for Friday drinks which was a lovley touch. Management were very friendly, easy to talk to and very present. I could not fault my stay and will certainly return. A much better choice than the Strand and I liked that it was a bit out of town. The museum was close by as was a great eating spot.

The Governors Residence, Yangon
A romantic, colonial-style mansion dating from the 1920s, The Governor’s Residence is redolent of the days when it was home to the ruler of Burma’s southern states.
With its fan-cooled verandas and teak armchairs, this delightful Orient-Express hotel in the elegant Embassy Quarter of Yangon (formerly Rangoon), conjures up a bygone era while offering every modern pleasure.
Set in a verdant garden dotted with lotus pools, the hotel is truly magical at the end of a day spent visiting the majestic Shwedagon Pagoda. Dinner is served alfresco in the balmy evening air by lantern-light, as tropical fragrances scent the breeze.
